What is a prostate biopsy?
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
Prostate cancer should be diagnosed early through screening methods without any symptoms.
Individuals suspected of having cancer are identified through blood tests (total PSA, free PSA), ultrasound, and MRI, and a transrectal (through the rectum) biopsy is performed under ultrasound guidance. Local anesthesia is administered to prevent pain and discomfort, allowing the biopsy to be performed comfortably.

Our center has a special ultrasound device, biopsy gun, and needle for this procedure.
Specialist Dr. Ertan OKAY chose transrectal prostate biopsy as his thesis topic and began performing it in 1993. He was the first in Bursa and one of the first in Turkey to do so, and has a successful series of biopsies involving thousands of cases.
We take between 8 and 12 tissue samples from the prostate, or more if necessary.
