What is Ultrasound (US)?

TOMOKAY PERFORMS EXAMINATIONS USING TWO STATE-OF-THE-ART COLOR 4D ULTRASOUND DEVICES.

IT IS A METHOD THAT CAUSES NO HARM TO THE HUMAN BODY. It is the imaging method with the lowest energy.
At least 30 minutes should be allocated for each examination. It should be performed by a state-of-the-art ultrasound device and a radiologist specialized in this field.
Under these conditions, it is the first diagnostic method for many diseases.
Ultrasound creates images of soft tissues and organs. It does this by reflecting sound waves from inside the body. Ultrasound is used to locate diseased or damaged tissues, detect abnormal growths, diagnose cancer, and diagnose many different medical problems. It enables the radiologist to make a quick and accurate diagnosis.

During an ultrasound examination, the radiologist uses a probe to send high-frequency sound waves from the patient’s skin into their body. These waves bounce back, and the probe detects these reflections. Then, an advanced computer electronically converts these reflections (echoes) into images. It does not involve ionizing radiation. Therefore, it is a very safe alternative imaging method against the adverse effects of radiation.

It should be used primarily for organs such as the neck, abdomen, female organs, breast, testicles, veins, hips, muscles, and tendons.
OUR SPECIALIST DOCTOR IS A PIONEER IN ULTRASOUND AND HAS EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE.

How should I prepare?

Please arrive at our center 30 minutes before your appointment. Preparations for ultrasound vary depending on the area of the body to be examined.
If your gallbladder, pancreas, liver, spleen, or aorta will be examined by ultrasound, it is recommended that you eat a low-fat dinner the night before your appointment.
You should not eat or drink anything for 8 hours before your appointment.
If you are having a pelvic ultrasound, your bladder must be completely full. Please drink at least 1 liter of fluid one hour before your appointment. Do not use the restroom before your appointment; your bladder must be full during the examination.
If an ultrasound of the breast, thyroid, or other body parts is to be performed, no preparation is necessary.

What should I expect?

The ultrasound is carefully performed by our radiologist. The radiologist applies a water-soluble gel that does not contain allergens to the area of your body to be examined. This prevents air from remaining between the probe and the skin. The doctor will begin taking images by gently pressing on your skin. The probe generates high-frequency sound waves and detects the echoes that bounce back. The computer connected to the ultrasound converts this data into detailed images.
